Above you will see a photograph of Lion Road completing his preparation ahead of his engagement at Ludlow this afternoon.  He worked in company with Market Rasen chase winner Taratata Sivola.  Lion Road competes in the 2.10pm race this afternoon and will be partnered by Tom Scudamore.  I also managed to get a picture of Togiak who was completing a solo gallop - he is entered at York on Friday.

I cannot believe that Towcester racecourse are continuing to campaign for jockeys not use their whips on their course.  Can you imagine jockey's trying to get up that stiff uphill finish without a stick?...It is like trying to scale the north face of the Eiger at the best of times!  Some of these heavy ground staying chases will take so long to complete that the races could run into each other!  Personally I think the new are bad enough already without taking the jockey's whips away altogether.
I keep bashing on about it - there will be completely different rules when the new regulations are implied.  A study of 74 races (flat and jumps) from Friday to Monday revealed that 26 jockeys who finished 1st or 2nd would have been in clear breach of the rules, while at Fontwell alone (from a sample of just 14 races) there would have been 9 offences commited...just think we could soon be running out of jockeys!

On the football front, Charlton look like a good bet to me this evening as they take on Brentford at home.  Corals make Charlton a 10/11 chance and that looks a bit of value to me as they have lost only one of their last nine home matches.
