Ben Lilly runs today at Fakenham!
Today we have two runners at Fakenham, Ya Know Yaseff and Ben Lilly. Ya Know Yaseff runs in the mares handicap chase at 1.30pm and Jack Tudor rides. She is already twice a winner this season and ran a good race to be second at Wincanton just before Christmas. A repeat of that run should see her go very close in this. She is about 7/2 in the betting and has run well at the course before over hurdles.
Ben Lilly runs in the concluding handicap hurdle on the card over 2m7f and Jack Tudor rides. He has been in good form this season winning twice and he didn’t run too badly when finishing fifth in a competitive little race at Doncaster last time. This looks a slightly weaker race and the handicapper has dropped him a little bit so I don’t see why he won’t be too far away again. The Lucy Wadham trained favourite looks the one to beat but hopefully at 5/1 we can give that one something to think about.
After the busy Christmas period things begin to settle a little and we have just the two jumps meetings today and Fakenham and Ayr while on the all-weather they race at Wolverhampton. There is no racing in Ireland.
Yesterday we had two runners at Exeter and the weather soon played it's part and after race 5 the ground switched to Heavy all round making it a stiff task. Both Chauffer Driven and Pachacuti finished 3rd, Chauffer Driven got a little outpaced turning for home, but galloped all the way to the line and may appreciate a step up in trip next time. Pachacuti put the disappointing run at Market Rasen behind him, jumped and travelled well and held every chance from 2 out but just got a little tired from the last, a slightly easier track may suit next time.
Last night in the football the one Premier League match was Liverpool against Newcastle United, it turned out to be quite a relentless and frantic game and Liverpool came out on top in the end with a 4-2 win for them. The Victory means Liverpool are unbeaten in 22 games at Anfield, and have now only lost one of their past 52 home games in the Premier League. Tonight there is one Premiership football match, West Ham play Brighton at 7.30pm. At this time of year I do enjoy watching the darts and have been following the journey of the incredible 16 year old Luke Littler.
An Englishman is hiking in Scotland and drinks from a stream. A shepherd passing says, “Dinnae drink frae that, it’s fulla coo piss and shite!”
The Englishman says “Please say that in King’s English?”
The shepherd says “Sorry sir, would you like this cup for a proper drink?!”
Have a great day!
