Make Me A Believer runs today at Ascot!

Today we have two runners at Ascot, Eden Du Houx and Make Me A Believer.  Eden Du Houx runs in the 1.50pm handicap chase over 2m3f and Jack Tudor rides.  This is his first run of the season and even though he would prefer the ground to be softer, fresh could be the best time to catch him.  There are only seven runners but it is a competitive little race and we are about 9/1 in the betting.  It is fair to say on his day, Eden is very talented but his form figures suggest he is either very good or can be disappointing.  He is in good form at home and everything should be in his favour probably bar the ground but hopefully he can be involved in the finish.

Make Me A Believer runs in the 3.00pm handicap chase over three miles and Jack Tudor is in the saddle.  Our lightly raced eight year old made a winning return to action at Exeter last month, his first victory over fences.  He has always at a touch of quality and has some very good novice hurdle form before injury kept him off games for quite a long time.  He was impressive at Exeter and even though he runs off a seven pound higher mark this afternoon I think there is scope for improvement.  This is a tough handicap, as you would expect for the prize money on offer and we are about 11/1 in the betting.  He is a horse I like a lot and fingers crossed for a good run.

Alongside Ascot, there is also jumps racing at Haydock and Newcastle this afternoon.  There is just one flat meeting on the all-weather at Lingfield and no racing in Ireland.

There is Graded 1 action at Ascot today with the Long Walk hurdle at 2.25pm.  Crambo is the favourite in the betting but there are some well know likeable opponents in opposition.  Dashel Drasher and Paisley Park fought out a terrific finish at Newbury last time and renew their rivalry in this while I don’t think you can discount any of the runners, it looks a great renewal of the race and I can’t wait to see it!

Last night in the football the one Premier League match was Aston Villa at home to Sheffield United which resulted in a 1-1 draw finish. Manchester City were in action in the Club World Championships final, playing Fluminense which resulted in Manchester City being the stronger team out of the two and winning 4-0.

There is plenty of Premiership football matches this afternoon and the early kick-off is West Ham at home to Manchester United at 12.30pm.  Most of the games kick off at 3pm and the pick would probably be Spurs at home to Everton while at 5.30pm there is a cracking games between Liverpool and Arsenal.

Have a great Saturday!
