Arc Day!

The stable has a runner in the 4.50pm at Huntingdon this afternoon, last time out Uttoxeter scorer Teshali in the handicap hurdle.  He looks to have a solid chance under young Hadden Frost who deputises for Timmy Murphy while he is riding up north, so fingers crossed for a good result.  It is a cracking day's racing today with the notable highlight being the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp.  The French capital seems to come alive on Arc day and it is a great experience - I have only been once but I would gladly go again - I think it is the only time that I have ever seen a French racetrack that is full!  If you were to visit a French track in the week, the meetings are not very well supported, but Arc day is different of course - just think, the race is worth €3.4 million!

The horses enjoy a bit of sunshine and a pick of grass in the Pond House paddocks

I still can't get over this incredible weather we are having - I know I keep on about it, but it is 25°c and sunny and it is now October...you wouldn't believe that the weather forecasters are prediciting snow for later in the month!  Anyway, as you can see from the picture above, while there is a bit of sun about some of the horses are soaking up the rays and enjoying a pick of grass by day.

There is a big local derby this afternoon as Fulham take on QPR.  It's been a few years since they last met in the league and it promises to be a good, close game.  I was impressed by Fulham's victory over Everton during the week and I am sure that the crowd will be winding-up Joey Barton - let's hope that he keeps his cool and doesn't do anything stupid.
