Shot Boii Runs today at Lingfield

Today we have two runners, one in Scotland and one in England!! Phantomofthepoints has made the long journey north, while Shot Boii travels East to Lingfield. Phantomofthepoints runs in the 12.20pm maiden hurdle over two miles and Jack Tudor rides. He made a pleasing stable debut to be second at Ffos Las in a bumper and runs for the first time over hurdles. He also ran well in a bumper in Ireland and our five year old, out of our former very good mare, Swing Bowler will hopefully improve even more for tackling obstacles. He is a gorgeous big horse who shows a good attitude and jumps well so fingers crossed he can put up a good performance. There are a couple of very good horses in opposition today but I don’t see why he won’t be in the mix at 8/1.

Shot Boii is having just his second run over fences in final race on the Lingfield card, a handicap chase over 2m7f at 3.35pm. He was fourth on debut at the track last time and I think that will have put him spot on for this. He is a two time hurdle winner at the course and will like the ground. He does have a few lengths to find with a couple who finished just ahead of him last time but Gearoid Harney claims a valuable seven pounds off and I think he can reverse the form with these rivals. I think he is worth a few pounds at 9/1.

Alongside the jumping action today there is flat racing on the all-weather at Chelmsford. There is no racing in Ireland.

Unfortunately Huntingdon had to abandon their Peterborough chase card yesterday but the BHA have been proactive in organising a couple of extra jumps fixture this week in light of several meetings being called off in recent days. We now have four runners at an extra Wincanton meeting tomorrow and there is also an additional fixture at Exeter on Wednesday.

Yesterday I went to wadebridge point to point in Cornwall and want to say many congratulations to Rian Corcoran who rode his first winner. Rian has been riding out in his school holidays at pond house for a while and has ridden lots of winners pony racing. He turned 16 in September and this was just his second ride aboard Itacare, a former Pond House inmate leased to the Corcoran family by Richard Wilkin and Somerset Racing for the season. Itacare has become their family favourite with Rian’s nine year old sister Niamh also enjoying schooling him at home as well!! Rian hopes to become a professional jockey and will hopefully join our team full time when finishing school next summer.

In yesterday’s football action, Everton beat Chelsea 2-0, Man City beat Luton 2-1, Fulham beat West Ham 5-0 and Spurs beat Newcastle 4-1. There are no Premiership matches this evening.

If slow old men use walking sticks, what do fast old men use?

Hurry canes!! Happy Monday!!
