     Jurancon winning at Chepstow Saturday

It was great to end racing on Saturday with a winner at Chepstow thanks to Jurancon winning the bumper under Gearoid Harney. Our four year old was making his stable and bumper debut after winning an Irish point to point for Colin Bowe and he couldn’t have been anymore impressive, pulling away from his rivals from over one furlong from home. He shows a lovely attitude at home and revelled in the soft conditions. While I’m not sure of future plans as to whether be may tackle another bumper or go hurdling, one thing for sure is he is a very exciting prospect for the future.

The rest of yesterday did not quite go as planned. Brinkley didn’t really back up his good second at Uttoxeter. He travelled and jumped well and looked to hold every chance but didn’t stay as well up the hill as I hoped. Jilaijone was very disappointing but all I can say it was too bad to be true. He is the most honest and genuine little horse but he didn’t look happy from an early stage yesterday. The ground was terrible and is the most likely cause. He seems fine this morning which is the main and I am sure he will bounce back. Vision De Maine also ran below expectations and he is definitely better than he showed on hurdling debut at Chepstow. Sidi Ismael unfortunately got no further than the chair in the Becher chase at Aintree when unseating Kevin Brogan. He looked to have taken to the fences well but almost jumped the chair a little too well and horse and rider parted company. It is always a slight worry when horses run loose on this course but he jumped a few fences before being caught and he has come back fine this morning.

There are no runners for the stable today but hopefully there is jump racing today at Huntingdon. Unfortunately Kelso’s card has already been abandoned. the Peterborough chase is the feature race at 1.55pm. It is an only a small field and Willie Mullins travels over with Janadil who looks to one they all have to beat. There is all-weather action at Wolverhampton and in Ireland they have a very good jumps card at Cork with Graded action.
I don’t really want to talk about about football as my team Manchester United were terrible and lost 3-0 at home to Brighton. Arsenal also lost to Aston Villa 1-0 while Liverpool won. There are four Premiership matches today with the feature 4.30pmgame being between Spurs and Newcastle. Three matches kick off at 2.00pm, Everton v Chelsea, Fulham v West Ham and Luton against Man City.
There are two point to point meetings in the West Country today, in Cornwall at Wadebridge and also at Larkhill. Happy birthday to amateur Martin McIntyre for today and hopefully he may ride a birthday winner.
A man keeps throwing yoghurt and milk at my house.
How dairy! Have a great Sunday!
