There are no runners from the stable today, but to be honest, there is unlikely to be any jump racing once again today. Southwell was the only intended jumps meeting, but they needed a dry night for racing to go ahead. They lost their additional all-weather jumpers bumper card on Sunday and the snow has now melted but rain on top of this has caused them problems.

We are likely to be left with just two race meetings today, both on the all-weather at Lingfield and Wolverhampton. We had torrential rain at Pond House yesterday, persistent rain fell all morning totalling 23mm between 7:30am and lunchtime. This was on top of 22mm rain Sunday night into Monday and so everywhere was saturated.  Other places seemed worse affected however and Chelsea who has just started with us in the office had trouble getting home herself after work and had to abandon her car part way!

This rain is likely to cause problems later in the week for jumps fixtures, with inspections already scheduled ahead of Leicester on Thursday and Wincanton as well. Exeter is another to have standing water on their track and they are monitoring conditions ahead of Friday’s fixture.  While the rain at Pond house stopped yesterday afternoon, the ground is now saturated once again and any further rain is likely to cause problems. I did feel sorry for everyone riding out yesterday. Not only was it very wet, it was pretty cold as well. Well done to all our staff however, who continued their usual morning routine in difficult conditions.

The weather also disrupted David and Gerry Supple's trip to London to the Horse Writers awards yesterday. The train was delayed on route, but even worse there were no trains coming home! Both were forced into a night in London and they are travelling back this morning.

I haven’t really been watching I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, but Frankie Dettori became the first person to be voted out of the jungle on Sunday evening. He spent 12 days in there undertaking a few challenges and putting up a good show. He said he enjoyed his time in the jungle, conquering a few fears while doing it. He is now likely to take a short break before resuming his riding career in California in the New Year.

Last night in the football Wimbledon beat Ramsgate 5-0 in their second round FA Cup match. Premier League action returns this evening.  Wolves are at home to Burnley at 7:45pm while Arsenal travel to Luton for an 8.15pm kick off The England women’s team are back in action this evening, playing Scotland in the UEFA Nations league, kic koff 7:45pm. A must win game for the lionesses.
