There was another 15 millimeters of rain here at Pond House last night, and we are due more wet weather across the country today with yellow and amber weather warnings in the Southwest. The continuing wet weather leaves just two meetings today at Newmarket and Kempton, where we have Lady Reset running in the 8.30pm 1m4f Handicap. The Curragh, Fontwell and Worcester meetings are all abandoned.
Lady Reset has winning form off a mark of 73 and good form in the high seventies. She runs off 68 today and steps back up in trip. If she shows her old form she is a big enough price currently at 25/1.
A roundup of yesterdays runners. Thistlebuff was disappointing and pulled up. He is one that shows enough at home but doesn't seem to want to do it on the racecourse so it's back to the drawing board with him. Jack rightly pulled Oceanline up once he was beaten before three out, there will be other days for him. Marrakushi settled and travelled well in the race but none of them could match the winner who went away from the field well. He will have learnt plenty from yesterdays race.
It was strong trade at Newmarket sales yesterday with a dominance from Australian buyers, pushing out many of the National Hunt bidders. The sale topper was Balance Play who sold for 575 000 guineas. David and Leanne are there today if you would like them to look at any lots, do get in touch.
It is Wednesday which means it's almost, sort of, kind of , close to, just, about, nearly the weekend...wohoo!
