We have three runners for the yard today, with two runners up at Sedgefield and one at Kempton.
Makanao runs in the 2.40pm Juvenile Maiden Hurdle up at Sedgefield. He had his first run over hurdles at Fontwell three weeks ago, having had some promise on the flat in France. This was a slow motion stamina sapping contest where he finished second. He has blinkers applied today just to help him concentrate, but he will have learnt plenty from him previous run and he is currently favourite. Our second runner at the Northern track is Vision De Maine who runs in the last race on their card, the National Hunt Flat Race. David has a fifty percent strike rate of bumper horses winning at the track so he is sure to go off at a short price. This four year old, who is by Buck’s Boum (sire of Al Boum Photo and brother to Big Buck’s), won on his only start in an Irish Point to Point back in March, and looks like an exciting prospect for the yard. Jack Tudor makes the journey North to take both the rides.
Kauto Kawai runs in the 1.45pm Juvenile Hurdle at Kempton where the going is miraculously still good. Tom Bellamy takes the ride on this three year by Nicaron, who was claimed from France just three weeks ago after finishing a good second. He has settled in really well and we look forward to him having his debut for the yard.
How are all your heads this morning? England played really well last night in the semi finals of the Rugby World Cup, to miss out on the final by a whisker, having led from the third minute right up until three minutes from time. They certainly gave their fancied opposition a good fight and should be really proud, having been written off before the World Cup, they pulled it together and showed how good they can be. The final kicks off next weekend between New Zealand and South Africa who are both chasing a record fourth title.
I asked my dog what is two minus two … he said nothing… Genius! Happy Sunday
