There is a real North South divide after the past weeks weather, with the going at Ayr described as Heavy and then it's Good to Firm at Exeter. We have three runners today at Exeter and one at Worcester, where Thistlebuffs is our first runner of the day in the 2.30pm Handicap chase.
This will be the lightly raced six year olds first run for the yard and over this longer trip. We might learn a bit more about him after today but he is fresh and well at home.
Pepsiwithacap is our first runner at Exeter in the 4pm two mile half a furlong Handicap Hurdle. She has had a couple of good runs recently most notably at Newton Abbot where she had every chance only to make a mistake at the last. Todays race looks like a very open contest, she will handle the firm in the going and she cannot be ruled out of the mix.
Red Happy runs in the 4.35pm two mile three furlong Handicap Chase, for the David Pipe Racing Club. There are plenty of members going today so we are hopeful of a good run. Red Happy ran well at Fontwell last time out off this reduced mark, the only question being todays shorter trip, but he is currently sitting favourite in the betting.
Nibras Gold runs in the last race on the card at Exeter, in the 5.10pm two mile two furlong Conditional Jockeys Handicap Hurdle, with Gearoid Harney in the saddle. Nibras is on good form at home having run seventeen days ago. He is stepping back down in trip which should suit and he will be another who will like the going.
A few of the The Pond House team went along to the quiz night at the Beambridge Inn that was hosted by NARS. A good night was had by all with one of our teams ( Mainly made up of the Dixon Family, Mel, Ben and Tom !) and Elena and Katie bringing home a hamper of goodies. Well done to all those who went to take part and a big thank you to all the team at NARS for arranging the evening.
An Autumn themed joke today, Why did the conker get a sore throat? Because it was a hoarse chestnut. Have a good day !
