We have a couple more pictures from the gallops to share with you this morning - this time of an old favourite and a somewhat less familiar name.  Former Hennessy Gold Cup and Totesport Bowl winner Madison du Berlais is making good progress at home, while Bathwick Brave who showed considerable promise in a couple of bumpers last season was also seen going nicely in a solo gallop.

I see that the Tote Jackpot is forecast to top the £1 million mark at Newmarket this afternoon.  It is the eighth consecutive rollover and there is a pool of over £550,853 carried over from Redcar yesterday.  The jackpot will be at Newmarket for the next few days so it could carry over for a few days yet - it could be worth a flutter as I am sure you have more chance of becoming a millionaire via the jackpot than by winning the lottery...all you have to do is find all six winners!

Veteran rocker Rod Stewart certainly did no harm to Newbury's year on year profits when he performed at the Berkshire track in May.  The "Do You Think I'm Sexy" singer drew a crowd of no less than 15,000 people - who says these racecourse gigs aren't a good idea?  I remember talking with Rod at Kempton racecourse many years ago when Carol Pipe came up to us and (not realising who he was) told him that he needed a haircut.  When he left, I gave Carol a rendition of "I Am Sailing" at which point she realised that I couldn't sing, but more than that, she realised that she had just told off Rod Stewart!

Just think how Owen Hargreaves must be feeling this morning.  The Manchester City midfielder played for nearly an hour last night against Birmingham and he scored a great goal.  Remember, he has only played for six minutes during the past three years so it must have been a real shock to his system - let's hope that he manages to stay sound and gets a few games in.  I would expect that the manager will just play him in Cup matches for a while.  Another who was making a comeback last night was Liverpool's Steven Gerard - the Red's badly need a fully fit Gerard, and quickly!
