Several cars were damaged at Bath racecourse recently.  Some of the punters that had decided to have a few pints and leave their cars behind came back to find their vehicles dented...they obviously didn't realise that when there is no racing on, the track is part of Lansdowne Golf Course - no prizes for guessing what caused the dents!  I once had a ball go through my windscreen whilst playing at Stover Golf Club - when I complained, I was made to feel like the guilty party as the Steward informed me that the member wasn't too happy as he had to take a penalty drop!

We have just the one runner this evening at Hereford, Bathwick Quest in the 6.05pm race - a novices' handicap chase.  She ran well recently on her reappearance in a better race at Newton Abbot, and if able to build on that she should be thereabouts today under Tom Scudamore.

I never fail to be amazed by the range of sports that you can bet on these days.  Just reading through today's Racing Post there is the mainstream horse and greyhound racing, as well as football, cricket, golf, rugby league, tennis and even ice hockey!  I am struggling with the pronunciation of the teams playing tonight, Jyvaskyla and Barys - when I was living in Sweden ice hockey was a very popular sport (along with trotting), but I can't imagine there is a huge market for it over here...takes all sorts to make a world I suppose!

Back on more familiar territory, it looks as though the three teams that were recently promoted to the Premiership, Swansea, QPR and Norwich will struggle to stay up.  Although it is early days, it already looks like being a straight fight between Manchester United and City, while I think the minor placings will be filled by Chelsea, Arsenal and suprise...Bolton.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says that he has no problem with women drinking pints - he does however take exception to a man drinking a white wine spritzer!  Rio is out for a few weeks through injury - I wonder what he will be drinking?!
