There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Market Rasen, a flat fixture from Ayr and all-weather action from Chelmsford City.  David has three runners today at Market Rasen; Koi Dodville, Al Roc and Awesomedude.  Koi Dodville is the first of them in the 2m3f handicap chase at 3.35pm.  A three-time winner over hurdles last season, he makes his chasing debut this afternoon from his last winning mark over timber and has claims on that basis.  He has schooled well at home and can claim a 13lbs age allowance from his elders today.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle and he looks to have a good chance.

Al Roc contests the 2m5½f handicap chase at 4.10pm.  He has had a good start to the campaign, winning three times and ran creditably when runner-up behind a progressive type at Newton Abbot last time.  He is still 4lbs above his last winning mark, but should go well once again with regular rider Philip Armson in the saddle.

Awesomedude is our final runner as he runs in the 2m½f handicap hurdle for lady amateur riders at 5.20pm.  He was a good winner on his seasonal reappearance at Huntingdon in May and was not beaten far at Stratford last time, with the form well advertised by the runner-up since.  He is partnered by Alice Stevens, who is a very accomplished rider and takes a handy 5lbs off his back and is another with decent claims.  Let's hope for a winner or two this afternoon.

There's a great weekend of sport ahead of us with Brits Cameron Norrie and Heather Watson in action this afternoon as Wimbledon continues with both bidding to make it to the second week of the tournament for the first time in their careers.

The British Grand Prix takes place from Silverstone today, so you know where I will be...providing the missus let's me have a break from the painting and decorating!

I wondered what my parents did to fight boredom before the internet? I asked my eighteen brothers and sisters, but they didn’t have any idea either.

My wife and I have decided not to have kids.  The children aren't taking the news very well for some reason.
