What a race to look forward to today, a Group 1 at Ascot.  We have Rewilding, Workforce and St Nicholas Abbey in the field and it looks a mouth watering contest.  It is a great way to start to the week with Glorious Goodwood to look forward to as well.  Flat racing at its very best.  Sit back, relax and enjoy everybody!  There is no jumping action his weekend but David has one runner on the flat this evening at Salisbury.  Reset City runs in the 8.10pm and she steps up in distance after making a pleasing debut effort for the yard last time out at Leicester.  She missed all of last season so it was great to see her run well on her comeback and we have have Richard Hughes in the saddle this evening so fingers crossed she will run well again tonight.

The England cricket team are doing well in the Test match at the moment but the game looks like it could be heading towards a draw.  David and MCP are off to watch the match at Lords tomorrow.  Whenever they go to the cricket it seems to rain - you have been warned!  Fingers crossed the weather will be good tomorrow so they see some play.  It was a great knock from Kevin Pieterson for Engalnd in yesterday's action and he was a 9/2 chance before play to be the top runs scrorer.  He has only had one century in his last 56 test matches but it is good to see him back on form.  Back to the racing.

I like Fergus Sweeney's quote in the paper today.  He says just as he was approaching the toll bridge on the way to Chepstow races all of his passenger suddenly seemed to have fallen asleep!  I can remember having a conditional jockey in my car once who did the same and I told him that he would have to pay the toll on the way back!  For those of you who are not familiar with the Severn bridge, you only have to pay getting into Wales, not on the way home!

There is also another good quote in the Racing Post today.  Tim Easterby said, " I didn't fancy her one bit, she hadn't been working well at home".  Anyway his filly won so these horses are all very good at fooling us sometimes!
