I did say yesterday that I was concerned about the form of the Sir Michael Stoute yard and I am obviously not the only one who is worried as last year's Derby and Arc hero, Workforce is on the drift ahead of this weekend's Eclipse at Sandown.  It is now seventeen days and twenty nine runners since the Stoute team enjoyed a winner and as you know, you should follow stables in form.  The Newmarket trainer is certainly out of form at present although I am sure that they will turn it around before long.

I see that both of the Williams sisters are out of Wimbledon.  It just goes to show that you cannot come back from long lay-offs and win the biggest tennis tournament in the world.  Maria Sharapova is the new favourite at odds of around 2/1 to win the title.  She still looks a bit brittle to me, but at least she is easy on the eye (I am talking about her tennis by the way)!

I asked the question the other day, where do Manchester United get all of their money?  I thought that they were in a big financial hole and owed millions to the bank.  Maybe avid supporters Tony or Eddie could give me the answer - they seem to have Fergie's ear.  One thing is for sure, I bet their new goalkeeper is not as good as their old one!  Talking of United, we have one runner at Stratford tonight and it is part-owned by striker Michael Owen who is having his first runner with us.  Michael had a great time of it at Royal Ascot last week with his Manor House stables responsible for a couple of winners, including his home-bred Brown Panther.

Alastair Cook has been made the new England cricket captain...that's the third one inside the space of a month!  I don't know why we keep switching captains...surely you cannot get tired playing cricket - you spend most of your time in the pavillion waiting for the rain to stop!  If it isn't raining, then you spend the rest of the time sat on the pavillion balcoy getting a suntan!...I certainly took up the wrong sport.
