It is Christmas Eve and even though it has only been a day without racing, I am missing it already!  Fortunately there are only two more sleeps until Boxing Day and some cracking action which includes the King George VI Chase from Kempton.  Of course, the big news yesterday came with the government announcements that most parts of the country are moving into higher tiers and that the majority of racecourses will have to operate behind closed doors, whilst many bookmaking shops will have to shut.  Let's hope that the latest measures have the desired effect and we are able to return to some sort of normality in 2021.

David will have one runner on Boxing Day with Duc de Beauchene set to run at Wincanton in the Pertemps handicap hurdle qualifier.  Even so, it will be a busy day for the stable as declarations for Sunday's card at Chepstow takes place on Saturday morning at 10am.

Manchester United progressed to the semi-finals of the Caraboa Cup last night with victory over Everton setting up a mouth watering local derby with Manchester City.  United have not won any domestic trophy since 2017 and will be desperate to do well here.  Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur beat Stoke to make the other semi, where they will face Championship side Brentford.  Spurs have had even longer to wait for some silverware, 2008 in fact.
