There are three meetings taking place this afternoon and unusually, they are all over the sticks with the action coming from Ffos Las, Kempton and Sedgefield.  David has two runners this afternoon with Main Fact and Elan de Balme representing the Pond House team.  Main Fact (pictured above) was a revelation last season, winning his last five starts, none more impressively than last time at Uttoxeter and he has earned a crack at a nice prize.  The ground has dried significantly over the last few days which isn't ideal as the going cannot be soft enough for him.  Our other runner is Elan de Balme who contests the conditional jockeys' handicap chase at 3.45pm.  He was disappointing in a couple of runs last season but has had a break since then and had his wind operated on.  Hopefully he can regain some of the form he showed in France and that would give him a chance here despite the burden of topweight.  Fergus Gillard rides both of our runners today.

Hopefully you will have seen it yesterday, but for those who did not, below there is another chance to catch amateur jockey Sean O'Connor's horse to follow for the season ahead.  Simply click on the image below to view the video...

There are four Premiership football matches taking place this afternoon with the pick of the action looking to be Leicester versus Aston Villa - I didn't think I would be saying that at the start of the season.  Prior to yesterday's matches they were filling third and second places in the table respectively.

The final of the English Open snooker takes place tomorrow afternoon and then in the evening I have the NFL American Football to look forward to...my wife will be thrilled.  My beloved Minnesota Vikings play tonight at 6pm and (brave words) I will be disappointed if they cannot beat the Atlanta Falcons.  Nonetheless, I will expect the worst and hope for the best!

Thought for the day...You are never completely useless.  You can always serve as a bad example!
