The stable enjoyed a nice winner on Saturday afternoon when Bumpy Johnson ran out an impressive winner of the concluding bumper at Fontwell on his debut for the yard.  He travelled nicely throughout under Tom Scudamore and put the race to bed quickly once asked in the straight to win by a comfortable seven lengths.  He is owned by Brocade Racing who have had plenty of nice horses with the stable through the years and they look to have another smart recruit here.  Furthermore, if you read our blog on Saturday, you will have seen Oliver Defew, our head lad pick him out as his horse to follow for the season ahead.  He chose Kepagge last season who went unbeaten in three starts, so his credibility is sky high at the moment!

Following the abandonment of Stratford and Windsor this afternoon, we are left with only two meetings at Pontefract and Wolverhampton to look forward to.  We were due to have runners at Stratford today, but unfortunately the River Avon burst it's banks during the night leaving the course waterlogged.  Consequently there are no runners from the stable today.

What a shame that Enable could not land a historic third success in the Arc at Longchamp on Sunday.  She finished a tired sixth behind Sottsass (who was a place behind her in the race last year) and clearly did not enjoy the very soft ground or the slow pace.  Even so, she has been a remarkable mare with an enviable collection of Group One successes to her name.  Connections have not confirmed whether that is her final run as yet.  If it is, we have been privileged to see her race for four seasons - let's hope that she goes on to be as good a broodmare.

To say there were some strange results in the Premier League yesterday would be something of an understatement.  West Ham gave leaders Leicester a 3-0 spanking, Manchester United were beaten 6-1 by Spurs and most surprisingly of all, Aston Villa put 7 (yes, seven!) past Liverpool as they beat the champions 7-2.  Given how everything else is going in 2020, I don't know why I am surprised!

As if that weren't surprising enough, the Minnesota Vikings managed to win their first game of the season last night as they beat the Houston Texans 31-23.  Mind you, they did have to rely on the officials overruling the umpires decision that the Texans had scored a possible game-tying touchdown with the last play of the game.  Onwards and upwards...

My friend asked me if I wanted to hear a really good Batman impression, so I said go on then. He shouted, “NOT THE KRYPTONITE!” and I said, “That’s Superman…”

“Thanks, man, ” he replied, “I’ve been practising it a lot.”
