There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Bath, Chelmsford City and Lingfield.  In fairness to Chelmsford, they have put some decent handicaps on with three 0-105 events, carrying over £12,000 to the winner of each.  I am sure they will be disappointed to have attracted only five runners for one of them and seven runners in each of the other two.  ITV 3 will be covering those contests.

The best racing on offer today though comes from across the Irish Sea where the Curragh's Champions' Weekend continues with four Group 1's and a Group 2 on the bill.  The good news for race fans is that it is also televised by ITV.

It is an exciting weekend for sports with England taking on Australia in the second cricket one day international.  Australia won the first match decisively and could be further boosted if skipper Steve Smith returns.  England will certainly need to bat better against the Aussie seamers if they are to fare better.

The Tuscan Grand Prix takes place at Mugello this afternoon and it looks like normal service is likely to be resumed following the unusually exciting contest at Monza last week.  Mercedes will be strong favourites to dominate once again and Ferrari will do well to pick-up any points despite the benefit of home field advantage.

The remainder of the American football matches get underway this evening and I will be glued to that.  My beloved Minnesota Vikings take on the Green Bay Packers in one of the oldest rivals in the NFL.  One of the most intriguing matches will be the Tampa Bay versus New Orleans match where two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks; Tom Brady and Drew Brees face-off.  It will be fascinating to see how Brady, 43 will fare in his first outing in anything other than a Patriots uniform.
