There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with the action all coming on the level from Goodwood, Pontefract, Lingfield and Wolverhampton.  The stable has a rare runner on the level today as Miss M makes her debut for the Pond House team at Lingfield.  She contests the 1m4f handicap at 8.25pm and will be ridden by Finley Marsh.  She has won three times at around this trip and has shown toughness and consistency in her grade and looks sure to give her running again today.

It is the penultimate day of Glorious Goodwood and the Sussex track has another quality card lined-up.  The star attraction of course is lightning fast sprinter Battaash who is a very short-priced favourite for the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes at 3.15pm.  Considering he has won this contest, it is hardly surprising that he is such a warm order and it is going to take an exceptional effort from one of his rivals to get near him.  There are a couple of other Group 3 races on the card as well as the Golden Mile handicap so there is plenty to look forward to and the ITV team will once again be covering the action for terrestrial television.

There was a thrilling finish to the Nassau Stakes yesterday with French Oaks winner Fancy Blue holding on in a close finish giving Donnacha O'Brien Group 1 glory with his first runner in Britain.

Following the comments of Ronnie O'Sullivan earlier in the week, current world snooker champion and world number one Judd Trump stirred the pot by claiming that O'Sullivan show withdraw from the competition if he has genuine coronavirus concerns.  Things could get tasty if these two get to play each other!  The championships get underway this morning in the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield where a limited number of spectators are being allowed to enter.

It is first practice for the British Grand Prix which is held at Silverstone this weekend.  The track is to host back-to-back Grand Prix for the first time ever with another race next weekend.  Lewis Hamilton is very much the man to beat with his Mercedes light years ahead of anything else on the grid.  In the meantime Racing Point have had to find another driver for the next two races with Sergio Perez testing positive for Covid-19.
