Teaser runs on the flat at Kempton

It is fantastic to be back racing today behind closed doors at Newcastle.  I think the BHA and everyone involved have done a great job in getting things starting back.  We have our first runner back tomorrow at Kempton – Teaser.  He runs in the 5.50pm race, a handicap over just shy of 1m4f with Finley Marsh on board claiming three pounds.  This will be his first start on the flat for us after we bought him when he won a seller on the flat for Robert Eddery in October 2018.  He has won four races for Pond House, two races over hurdles and two races over fences.  He is in good form at home and it will be interesting to see how he gets on back on the level tomorrow.

We would have also liked to have run I’lletyougonow at Kempton tomorrow as well but she unfortunately got balloted out.  She was due to run in the 1.35pm handicap over 1m1f.  This would have also been her first start on the flat for Pond House.  There is a race for her possibly at Haydock next week so hopefully she will be out on the track again fairly soon.

There are some strict new protocols everyone has to follow and fingers crossed these will help ensure a smooth return to racing for this week and beyond.  Our staff have undertaken online courses in the additional Covid-19 health and safety measures.  We now have to declare the member of staff who will be accompanying the horse on the day of declarations with an estimated arrival time at the racecourse.  The member of staff going has to complete a health questionnaire prior arriving and will have their temperature taken before entering the racecourse.  The appropriate PPE will of course be worn and failure to comply with any of these measures will mean that our horse will not be able to run.

Our next entries could be at Lingfield on Saturday so check back here later in the week for more news but tomorrow we will return with our looking back series.  Hopefully we will learn more news about the actual races coming up for the rest of June shortly.  We know the meetings and dates but not the individual races at present.  This should be available very shortly and then we can make some plans for the other horses we have ready to run on the flat.  Have a good day and enjoy watching the action everyone.
