It has been a blustery night in the wake of Storm Brendan and there is plenty of surface water on the roads and trees and branches down, therefore it is hardly surprising to learn that Exeter have been forced to abandon their meeting today due to waterlogging. I wouldn't have fancied being up on Haldon Hill much today!  That means that there are just two meetings taking place on these shores with the action coming from Doncaster over the sticks and Chelmsford City on the all-weather.  Stable jockey Tom Scudamore takes the day off but David Noonan makes the long journey all the way to Doncaster for just one ride and it looks to have a fair chance as well, so let's hope he is lucky.

Little Red Lion ran a good race on his seasonal reappearance to finish runner-up in the amateur riders' handicap hurdle at Lingfield yesterday.  He looked to be in a spot of bother as he was ridden along with a circuit to go but he kept responding to Fergus Gillard's urgings and looked as though he may win between the last two flights.  He will certainly get further than this and looks capable of winning something similar for the David Pipe Racing Club.

There have been new shake-ups announced by the Gambling Commission as bookmakers are to be banned from allowing gamblers to bet using a credit card.  This is to assist people with a gambling addiction and will put a stop to the 800,000 people using a UK issued credit card.

The shocks continued on day two of the Masters snooker from the Alexandra Palace.  Neil Robertson looked to be in full control as he led Stephen Maguire 5-1 but somehow managed to lose the final five frames to lose 6-5.  Mark Allen was also defeated as he lost to Dave Gilbert.  With no Ronnie O'Sullivan in the line-up it is already looking a wide-open contest.  World number one and reigning champion Judd Trump must be licking his lips as he gets his defence underway today.

Thought for the day...I hate people who use big words just to make themselves look perspicacious!
