There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Newbury, Leicester, Catterick and an all-weather flat card from Lingfield.  David has two runners today; Ghost Serge and Delface who both run at Leicester.  Ghost Serge runs in the 1m7½f handicap hurdle and has shown plenty of talent on the flat and over timber but refused to race at Lingfield earlier in the month.  He will handle the heavy ground and has the ability to be involved provided he jumps off - Tom Scudamore is charged with the job of making sure that he does.  Our other runner is Delface (pictured above) who contests the 2m handicap chase at 3.45pm.  He has been in good form this season and was only narrowly beaten on his second start over fences at Hereford last month (form that has been franked since).  A 5lbs rise makes things harder but he looks to have every chance under David Noonan.

Eamon An Cnoic fared best of our runners yesterday, finishing third at Wetherby in the 2m handicap chase.  His very best efforts have come over slightly further one a very testing surface.  Rathlin Rose was far from disgraced under young Fergus Gillard in the Welsh National, finishing 10th at odds of 100/1.

I see that Kemboy is back in action in Ireland (3.10pm Leopardstown) following the fracas over the ownership during the off-season.  He was the top-rated staying chaser last season and I am sure connections are itching to get him back on the track.  He looks to be the one to beat here after winning the race last year and with Lostintranslation disappointing in the King George, it would be no surprise to see him solidify his place as favourite for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Manchester City were surprisingly beaten 3-2 by Wolves yesterday having been 2-0.  This is the latest blow to their hopes in the Premiership and you can now see why some bookmakers have already paid out on Liverpool who look completely different gear to everyone else.

I was walking through town yesterday and noticed a huge advert for Viagra.  Apparently it's been up for ages!
