The stable horses continue in good form following the success of Ramses de Teillee (pictured above) at Cheltenham on Saturday.  On his return to hurdling he made all the win by a comfortable 4½ lengths, easily outstaying his rivals on testing ground.  He can win more races over hurdles, especially when the mud is flying, although this will serve as an excellent prep run for bigger targets over fences.  Also on the card, Grumpy Charley was far from disgraced when sixth in the bumper - he was still right there a furlong out and can only improve for the experience and will be winning races.

Airton took a step back in the right direction when fifth at Wincanton yesterday.  He wasn't beaten very far and only weakened in the closing stages, whilst Paricolor was still in with a squeak when stumbling and falling two out.  I think he would certainly have made the frame.

There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon with a flat card from Kempton and a jumps fixture from Ayr.  I see that champion jockey Richard Johnson heads all the way to Ayr for a few mounts for Gordon Elliott so those will certainly command respect.  It is not such good news for Bangor who have already abandoned their meeting scheduled for tomorrow owing to waterlogging.

I see that it is leading flat owner Michael Tabor's birthday.  Michael is another East-end lad who used to play a bit of ping pong.  Many happy returns Michael.

I will be having a few quid on QPR tonight at 19/20 to beat Brentford in the football.  Liverpool beat Spurs 2-1 yesterday and it was nothing like as close as the scoreline would suggest with Spurs doing well to keep Liverpool to just two goals.  Meanwhile, Manchester United won 3-1 and they seem to be improving, although Norwich were very poor.

Lewis Hamilton drove very well to win the Mexican Grand Prix yesterday and needs only a handful of points to retain his title at the next race in Austin, Texas.  I bet he will have some party organised over there.

Eddie Jones has warned rugby world cup finalists South Africa that England are ready to become the best team on the planet.  England will start favourites for the final on Saturday following their dominant 19-7 defeat of New Zealand.  I am not a rugby fan, but I am always pleased to see England win anything!
