One Worcester Runner

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Thirsk, Musselburgh, Kempton and Bath as well as a jumps card from Worcester.  David has one runner at Worcester today as Skinflint (pictured above) contests the 2m4f conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle at 5.20pm.  He was in good form in point-to-points last term and produced a good first effort over regulation fences when runner-up behind a well-treated rival at Newton Abbot last time out.  He reverts to hurdles today, although these brush hurdles are like mini fences, whilst the drop back in trip should not inconvenience.  He is 4lbs ahead of the handicapper and looks to have a good chance under Conor Brace.  Stable jockeys Tom Scudamore are also at the meeting having picked up outside rides on the card.

I see that Bryony Frost takes to the flat at Bath this afternoon to ride one for Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum in preparation for the Dubai International races at Newbury next week.  I bet when she started race riding she never thought she would be in the famous blue and white silks.

England have a must win cricket world cup match this afternoon against New Zealand for a place in the semi-finals.  England are 4/9...surely they will beat New Zealand?  The action gets underway at 10.30am.

England's ladies were beaten 2-1 in the football world cup last night against USA.  We can't complain too much however, we had plenty of chances and Steph Houghton missed a penalty whilst there was a 67th minute equaliser that was deemed off-side.

I would love to know why the BBC throws all their cash at these overseas pundits to come in and give their opinions on Wimbledon.  Do we need them?  You have got to be joking!  Good on Harriet Dart.  The Brit picked up £72,000 for a second round appearance.  I know a lot of you are asking who Harriet Dart is, well she is 22 and comes from London and is currently ranked 121 in the world.  Pay days like these don't come along very often, so well done to her.
