There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Southwell and Fakenham as well as an all-weather flat card from Wolverhampton.  There are no runners from Pond House today, although both Tom Scudamore and David Noonan have picked up outside rides at Fakenham.  Talking of Tom Scu, he went all the way to Sedgefield yesterday for two rides and they both won.  I usually take notice when a jockey or a trainer travels to a distant meeting...I just wish I had taken note this time!

Talk about extremes of weather...only last week people were basking in sunshine with temperatures of 20°c, whilst yesterday there was driving snow at Leopardstown.

I see that Peter Scudamore is on the Monday Jury in today's edition of the Racing Post and he has been putting forward his fancies for next week's Cheltenham Festival.  He has picked Glen Forsa (Arkle), Paisley Park (Stayers Hurdle) and Champers On Ice (Pertemps).  He has even picked one for the Imperial Cup at Sandown on Saturday - Southfield Stone.  Good luck if you back any of those.

It looks as though Liverpool are feeling the pressure of their time at the top of the Premier League after playing out a 0-0 draw with Everton over the weekend.  The bookmakers reacted by putting them out to 5/2 to win the title.  They missed so many chances and the nerves seem to be getting to their strikers.  Meanwhile, new Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers certainly seems to have found himself a hard task in his new role.  I think I would rather be at Celtic!

There is a good derby match tonight as Sheffield Wednesday and United clash at 7.45pm on Sky Sports.  I will be having a bit of the 11/10 about United.

Snooker player Matthew Selt won his first ranking tournament when beating defending champion John Higgins in the semi-finals and Lyu Haotian in the final of the Indian Open.  Selt said it was a dream come true.  I reckon the £50,000 first prize will come in handy for the world number 51 too.#

I hear that a coach full of musicians has broken down on the M5 blocking two lanes.  Police are warning of lengthy jams!  Keep smiling...
