Delirant won nicely at Newton Abbot yesterday which was nice for owner JP McManus and the whole team. He was a bit lively before the race but Tom got him nicely settled towards th back of the field and gradually crept closer. When Tom asked him to quicken after a bit of a slow jump at the last he picked up nicely and did it a shade cosily in the end even though the winning distance was only 1 1/2 lengths. Delirant won two bumpers in France, including a Grade 1 so he could turn out to be pretty useful. Today we have five meetings all on the flat at Salisbury, Beverley, Wolverhampton, Chepstow and Yarmouth. Yarmouth has under £50,000 of prize money on offer for their seven races.
They talk about horses being well handicapped sometimes, what about jockey's in golf tournaments?! I see AP, Richard Hughes, Peter Hobbs and Danny Waters won the Jim Old golf day at Malborough. It was the 28th running of the event and it raised £20,000 for charity. All the proceeds go to the Injured Jockey's Fund so well done for Jim Old for organising the event. I know David and Ashley enjoyed their round even though they were rather tailed off!!
Beverley had a good crowd for their meeting yesterday which was Ladies Day. They had 12,000 people through their gates and the best dressed lady competition went to Liz Hallett who won a trip to Ireland to see the Northern Lights. Surely if you live up North in Beverley you could just go out your front door?!
If I was at Manchester United I would get rid of Paul Pogba straight away. He has told manager Mourinho if he wants to talk to him to call his agents. That is no way for a player and manager to act.
How can you lose a set of golf clubs in transit? Well, Thorbjorn Olesen lost two sets! He is now back in business and is re-united with his clubs and he is puching for a Ryder Cup place in today's Norden Masters in Sweden.
So I saw this Bongo drum holding a pair of binoculars. He was a peeping tom-tom. Have a good day.
