There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon with the action coming from Chester on the level and Market Rasen over the sticks.  It is also the final day of the Galway Festival -  I feel sorry for those that have been there all week...their livers must be in an awful state by now!  It is amazing how the Irish races always seem to attract big fields - it must have something to do with the fact that there is less racing taking place on a daily basis.

The BHA really need to do something about sorting out these photo finishes.  In this day and age it is unforgivable to be calling the wrong result.  I still can't believe that Royal Village did not get the verdict at Market Rasen towards the end of last month.  They are saying that there was no mirror image available to them at Market Rasen - have you ever known an official to be wrong admit that they have made a mistake?  Every course should have a mirror image to ensure that the correct result is called.

The big football match today is Leeds versus Stoke.  Leeds have spent a lot of money (the San Francisco 49'ers American Football team invested in the club during the off-season) so let's hope some of it is repaid today.  You can back Leeds at 7/4.

You have to feel a little sorry for goalkeeper Joe Hart on the news that he has been transferred to Burnley.  The poor love has to take a £20,000 per week pay cut to boot...perhaps we should have a whip-around?

I see that former British javelin champion Joanna Blair has been banned for four years for failing a drugs test.  She claims to have unintentionally ingested it from a contaminated supplement bought online.  I wonder why she doesn't consider legal action against the company she bought it from.  Who is she trying to kid?  You all know my stance on drugs cheats by now.

I went to the Royal Albert Hall the other night.  It was full of pushchairs...it was the last night of the prams!
