There are no less than six meetings taking place this afternoon with five flat cards from Carlisle, Brighton, Wolverhampton, Haydock and Goodwood supported by a jumps fixture from Stratford.  The jumps fixture from Stratford is an all hunter chase card so unsurprisingly there are no runners from Pond House today.  There is still some local interest however with Gerry Supple's talented wife Jo taking the mount aboard the Leslie Jefford trained Master Baker at 6.40pm.  Leslie used to work for Martin in the early days and rode for David in point-to-points.  I wouldn't be surprised to see this one bring home the dough!  The race is for the John Corbet Cup - a contest that David's secretary Gail won many years ago with a horse called Trentishoe, something that she may have told us about once or twice over the years...

I hope Sir Anthony McCoy has not forgotten that it is his lovely wife Chanelle's birthday today.  Chanelle and AP really look after us when I take Martin and Carol up to Lambourn for her appointments at Oaksey House.  I wonder what Archie and Eve have bought their mum?  Archie is a real character.

Fortunately I have managed to avoid the show that everyone is talking about at the moment...Love Island.  Even so, you cannot escape it altogether and I notice that one of last year's contestants Chris Hughes (who dropped into our marquee at Cheltenham this year) is due to make his race riding debut at York a week tomorrow after five months of preparation.  We wish him well.

David has been honing his photography skills down the gallops again and today he has the grey's Druide Premier and Kalifourchon leading the string during first lot.

England beat Costa Rica 2-0 last night in their build-up to the World Cup and looked to be in complete control of the match.  Marcus Rashford scored a wonder goal and appeared to be different class to anyone else on the pitch with all his trickery.  I would definitely be starting him in Russia.  The trouble is, he can't win the World Cup on his own!

I see that Tyson Fury's intended comeback fight against cruiserweight Sefer Seferi has been labelled a p-take by heavyweight rival Dillian Whyte.  Doesn't Whyte realise that they don't want Fury to lose?  If he does it would take fortunes off of the value of his next fight.  Come on Dillian, use your brain!  (I hope he doesn't read this)

Did you hear about the two silkworms that had a race?  It ended in a tie!  Have a nice day...
