There are five meetings today, jumps cards at Newbury, Uttoxeter and Warwick plus two flat cards at Lingfield and Wolverhampton.  David has two runners at Newbury and one at Uttoxeter.  Skinflint runs in the first race, 1.15pm at Newbury a novice hurdle over 2 miles.  Our six year old would have to improve on recent runs and this looks a tough race with Michael Heard on board.  The big race of the day is the Betfair hurdle at 3.35pm.  It is worth £150,000 and David runs Moon Racer.  Our former Champion Bumper winner is now nine years old but has not had many runs in his life and if he was to come back to his old form he looks a big price at 25/1.  It is however a very open competitive race and they go 9/1 the field.  At Uttoxeter we run Max Do Brazil in the 3.05pm 2m4f handicap hurdle.  David Noonan rides and he certainly has to improve on recent form.

I thought King's Socks ran okay and Kempton yesterday and was not beaten that far.  This was his first run since June 2016 and he can only come on from this.  He looks capable of winning some good races in the future.  I think something must be done about three runner races.  We have some today and at Warwick Solighoster will probably jump round and collect over £9000 in the novice chase.  It does nothing for the good of racing.  The BHA needs to ask trainers why they don't run horses in these type of races.  Newbury has two three runner races and they are both chases so it looks like there might be a shortage of chasers in the country at the moment?  There are 24 runners in the Betfair hurdle and I know there were more declared who would have like to have run if they had not got balloted out.  There seems to be more hurdlers than chasers around at the moment.

I see that Sam Twiston-Davies was moaning about how much it cost to get his car through it's MOT.  With all the money he would be earning you would have thought he could buy himself a new car!

It is Spurs versus Arsenal at 12.30 today.  You can back Spurs at 21/20.  I am going to have a few quid on Stoke at 6/5 and I know I am mad but I am also going to have a few quid on West Ham at 31/20.

Smoke detectors need to be tested from time to time so sometimes I cook sometimes I cook something!  Have a nice day!
