There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Bangor, Exeter and Ayr as well as an all-weather fixture from Newcastle.  David has three runners at Exeter today; Aero Majestic, Saint John Henry and Timeforben.  Aero Majestic contests the 2m7f handicap hurdle at 12.50pm - he was placed in an Irish point-to-point and now runs in his first handicap over timber from a mark of 110.  He has shaped with promise and has each way claims at likely odds of around 8/1.  Saint John Henry (pictured above) was a revelation over fences at Chepstow on his chase debut and hopefully he can build on that from a 6lbs higher mark - another big run is expected.  Timeforben is our final runner in the mares' novices' hurdle over 2m2½f - a winner of an Irish point, she shaped with promise on her rules debut in a Newton Abbot bumper and this track should be more to her liking - she is another who should go well.  Tom Scudamore rides all three of our runners today.

I see that Zara Tindall had a winner at Lingfield yesterday afternoon when Somewhere To Be scored under Leighton Aspell.  She wasn't there so clearly had somewhere to be!  The horse was certainly well supported, so maybe she was in the local betting shop?!  It was the first winner she has bred and she also doe all the pre-training so very well done to her.

There was a shock yesterday with the announcement of the unexpected passing of leading owner Alan Potts.  The prominent owner had a marvellous string of horses with his late wife Anne, including the likes of Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Sizing John.  Our thoughts and condolences are with his friends and family.

On paper it was a good result for England to draw with Brazil last night but we have to score more goals if we are going to compete at the highest level.  The mindset of the England side is extremely defensive and while the scores were level, Brazil looked much the better side.  Meanwhile the Republic of Ireland lost 5-1 at home to Denmark with Christian Eriksen scoring a hat-trick for the Danes.  England are the only one of the home nations who will be travelling to Russia for the World Cup.

Snooker star Luca Brecel picked up the wrong bag at the airport recently and had to play in someone else's clothes and shoes.  He is lucky to have found someone of similar stature!  I can still remember a snooker player turning up to an exhibition match on the Isle of Wight and he forgot to bring his cue.  Of all the things to remember, you would have thought that would have been towards the top of the list!  I won't name names Joe Johnson...oops!
