It is good to see David banging in the winners and he was on the mark with an across the card double at Hexham and Leicester yesterday.  Great Tempo proved one of the easiest winners of the season thus far when winning the juvenile maiden hurdle at Hexham - mind you, he was a 1/25 chance!  He was backed from 1/14 - who bets on horses at those sort of prices?  My mate in the bookies told me that it was better than the interest rates from the bank and I suppose he has a point.  Great Tempo already has a handicap mark of 128 based on his decent French form and he can clearly go on to much better things.  I had to laugh when I read Tom's post race comments, "We fancied him!"...I think it was tongue in cheek.

The double was completed when Rathealy (above) won the seller at Leicester under a good, positive ride from Michael Heard.  There was no bid at the subsequent auction so he returns to the yard and looks capable of winning in a similar sort of grade.  Travelling head lad Craig Wylie has recently got into this 'selfie' craze and I am sure you will enjoy his latest effort, taken with our Leicester winner...

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Taunton, Warwick and Newcastle while there is an all-weather flat card from Chelmsford City.  David has just one runner this afternoon as Port Navas contests the three mile handicap hurdle at Taunton at 12.30pm.  Our five year old has show progressive form in finishing runner-up on his last couple of starts and he looks to have sound claims once again with Tom Scudamore in the saddle.

It is hard to believe that Leicester are the current Premier League champions.  They looked decidedly ordinary as they were beaten 5-0 to Porto last night - they did make ten chances but it was still a terrible result.  On this form they look like they could be right in the thick of a relegation fight to remain in the Premiership.

I see that Christiano Ronaldo has earned £139,000 for signing 1,000 Panini stickers last year...don't laugh, it is not an easy job and he didn't get well reimbursed for it!

At the moment England's cricketers are going nicely in the fourth test against India.  England captain Alistair Cook was out charging down the pitch - this was only the fourth time in his career that he has been stumped.

There was good news that missing champion greyhound Clares Rocket has been found safe and well and four men have been arrested.  They obviously were not quite as quick as the dog!

I bought a Christmas tree that was too big to get into the car so we had to cut the top off.  I don't really mind - I have always wanted a convertible!
