I see that trainer Richard Phillips was fined £600 by the BHA beacuse he had declared his horse Eastwell Smiles to run at Bangor and also Fontwell yesterday. I think this was absolutely riduclous that he got this fine as we all knew and trainers especially, that Bangor was likely to be called off and Fontwell was in doubt because of the weather.  Eastwell Smiles won at Fontwell.  Richard Phillips share of the winnings was £156 so he was £444 out of pocket after the horse won.  A silly rule that maybe needs to be changed.  Eastwell Smiles now goes to the sales on Tuesday.

The picture of Nigel Twiston-Davies in yesterdays Racing Post made him look like a monk!  Nigel had a duffle coat on with the hood up and it just made me smile!  It looks like we will be seeing another Twiston-Davies name appearing a lot more often in racecards in the future.  Willie Twiston-Davies is the 16 year old younger brother of talented Sam and he will be riding in a point to point today at the Heythrop, near Chipping Norton.  His dad says that Willie is already one of the best schooling jockeys and with dad and Sam given him advice he could well be a name to follow over the coming months.
