This afternoon there are three meetings taking place with jumping action from Huntingdon and Doncaster supported by an all-weather flat card from Chelmsford City. The stable has a couple of runners today as David sends Still Together and Vazaro Delafayette to run at Huntingdon. The trip should suit Still Together who was a winner of an Irish point-to-point and he is in this handicap on a mark of 103 - he looks to have each way prospects at odds of around 11/2. Meanwhile the Racing Post make Vazaro Delafayette (pictured above) their 7/2 favourite for the novices' handicap chase - he won a handicap hurdle at Newbury on soft ground last time out (albeit over a year ago) and he has schooled well over the larger obstacles at home. A big run is expected.
It was just like royalty at Pond House last night. The front doors were opened and the red carpet was rolled out for Sir Anthony McCoy and Lady Chanelle. It was a lovely dinner and the conversation was great with some of the old stories coming out. AP divulged that he only ever fell out with Martin twice (I'll never know how he managed that!) and he was in the wrong on one of those occasions. Chanelle nearly choked on her food when she heard that! AP is looking very well, so well in fact that when we put him on a set of 'speak your weight' scales it said no "coach partys!"...the old ones are the best! Dave Roberts and his partner Ruth were also there and believe it or not it is the first time that Dave has visited Pond House. I reckon it would make a great programme for Racing UK or Attheraces...a bit like Come Dine With Me but without the boring cooking bit!
If you have a copy of today's Racing Post there is a great picture of Colin Tizzard on the front page. At least I think it is Colin Tizzard, it could be Del Boy from Only Fools And Horses - they would be the only nags that Del ever pulled!
Many happy returns to former Liverpool and England winger Steve McManaman who is 44 today. Steve had some very good horses at Pond House down the years in partnership with Robbie Fowler - the likes of Auetaler, Seebald and Samon spring to mind. He was always a thoroughly nice, down to earth sort of guy...happy birthday Steve - we hope you have a great day.

There was a good result for Valencia manager Gary Neville last night as his side drew with a weakened Barcelona team. Mind you only 16,000 fans turned up at the 55,000 seater stadium - it really does look as if his days as boss there are numbered.

Did you know that married men are like fires? They go out when unattended!
