There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Musselburgh as well as an all-weather flat card from Chelmsford City.  There is some good prize money on offer and the stable travels four runners all the way up to Scotland; Impulsive American, My Brother Sylvest, Unanimité and Mango Cap.  Impulsive American has run consistently in novices' hurdles and as a four year old, he carries only 10-7 today.  My Brother Sylvest runs in the handicap chase at 1.30pm and he would need to improve on most recent efforts to figure.  Former French winner Mango Cap contests the Listed hurdle at 3pm and Unanimité steps up in trip in the £30,000 handicap hurdle qualifier - it is an extremely competitive race as you would expect for a race of that value.  They have obviously managed to avoid all of the rain that we have endured over the past couple of days as it looks to be perfect jumping ground as the official description is good (good/soft in places).  It is David's birthday today and he has flown up to Scotland so hopefully he will be able to celebrate a birthday winner.

There is some good football action on today as Chelsea take on Manchester United at 4pm.  This will tell us all we need to know about which side has improved the most recently.  Chelsea are 11/10 chances and I think they could just nick it...sorry Tony!  Meanwhile Bournemouth take on Arsenal at 1.30pm.

It must be terrible to know that you are going to lose your job...that is the situation that Gary Neville finds himself in as he is a 4/7 with Ladbrokes to be shown the door at Valencia before the end of the season.

I see that British boxing legends Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank could incredibly be squaring up for the third installment of their rivalry following their bouts in 1990 and 1993.  Benn, who is now 52 has been in training in heats of 90ºf in Sydney, Australia.  They say that money talks and the pair have allegedly been offered £5 million each to fight each other again, although I find it hard to believe that it will take place.

I see that Ronnie O'Sullivan has spoken out about the format of the world snooker championships.  He says that the tournament (which currently takes 17 days) goes on for too long and that the final should be the best of 17 frames.  It seems quite sensible to me as spectators would certainly get a quicker 'fix', although it would detract from the matchplay element which plays to other players' strengths more than "The Rocket"...I wonder if that has anything to do with it?!

I was only just saying yesterday that the BBC get all the best sports(!) and there is yet another sport with a funny shaped ball on late tonight.  It is the Superbowl in America and the "greatest show on turf" is between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos.  It is not my idea of fun although in fairness the Americans really know how to put on a good show and make an amazing spectacle of it...perhaps we could learn a few lessons from them?  Anyway, I know James from the office loves his gridiron so if he is late for work on Monday morning David will know why!

Now pay attention as the following piece of information could just save your life one day...there is a little know but foolproof way of defending against shark attacks.  Did you know that sharks will only attack you if you are wet?!  Don't thank me all at once.
