Good news!...We have at least two race meetings on - over the sticks at Ffos Las and a National Hunt flat race card at Southwell on the all-weather.  It is of course a consequence of the milder weather that we have had over the last few days in the South of England.  I had better find a few winners on the Pipeline to pay for Christmas - the wife is going to hit the sales in Exeter this afternoon (she did Torquay yesterday)!

I feel sorry for poor old Noel Fehily.  He has been riding a lot of Paul Nicholls' horses during Ruby Walsh's injury but unfortunately he will now be on the sidelines himself for at least two months with a recurrence of his dislocated wrist - he is going to require a wide insert in the wrist today so the trainer will be looking for yet another jockey...I wonder what A P McCoy is up too in the near future?!

I think that we can now put the Ashes on the plane ready to come home.  It would be great to beat the Aussies by an innings in the final Test, but a draw would be enough to retain the trophy.  I am now going to phone my mother in law in Australia to see how they are getting on over there - as I said, the Aussie's are the worst in the world for gloating so it's time for some payback (it doesn't happen very often)!

I was watching the football last night between Arsenal and Chelsea.  Arsenal won 3-1 and it occurred to me that Chelsea really need to start spending some money in the January transfer window.  It seems to me that all of the players have suddenly got old together, meanwhile if I were the Arsenal manager I would be on the lookout for another goalkeeper and try to get my two centre halves talking the same language - they seem to be going for the same ball a lot of the time.  If they had a young player in the mould of Tony Adams I would fancy them for the title.  It looks like things are going Machester United's way again - that will please our head lad Eddie Buckley.  Eddie is an Irishman who has never been to Manchester in his life - I guess he is what you would call a typical United supporter!  Keep smiling.
