At long last the public voted correctly in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards. AP's win gives racing a big boost and he is the first jockey to win the award since it's launch in 1954. I even agreed with the runners-up spot, darts legend Phil Taylor, although personally I think that golfer Graham McDowell should have been third. The racing industry and public really got behind AP and he really deserves this accolade - he is a great ambassador for our sport.
He made an excellent speech and it was good to see his wife Channelle in the front row. AP doesn't drink so I don't know how he will be celebrating this success. Having known AP for years when he used to ride for MCP, I can honestly say he is a great person - well done AP, you deserve it!

Apparently Telegraph HIll near Exeter racecourse is closed both ways due to the bad weather so if you are heading that way make sure to take an alternative route.

Unsurprisingly all of today's meetings are lost and personally I cannot see any jump racing taking place this side of Christmas. It looks like it is going to have to be the Man City V Everton match for me!
