Perspicace (n/s) on the Gallops
Today we have five meetings, four flat cards at Salisbury, Beverley, Ffos Las and Lingfield plus a jumps card at Fontwell. All cards have over £30,00 in prize money up for grabs. David has two runners at Fontwell, Perspicace and For N Against and Tom Scu rides both. Perspicace was not beaten far in fourth at Uttoxeter last time out and the drop back in trip this afternoon might be to his advantage on good ground. For N Against has finished second on his last two outings at Exeter and Huntingdon. The handicapper put him up eight pounds for finishing second which I thought was a bit harsh for a horse who has had seven runs without winning! He knows what he is doing I think?!
Art of War did not jump very well and was pulled up at Newton Abbot yesterday. Lady of Longstone needs to drop a few pounds where as Spending Time did not look like he got the trip. Our best performance was from Skylander and he finished third not beaten very far so this was definitely a step in the right direction and hopefully he can get his head in front again soon.
Harry Redknapp had a horse running at Newton Abbot yesterday. He finished second but got awarded the race in the stewards room. The jockey on the horse that past the post first, Kevin Jones got a five day ban. He did come across Always Managing right near the finish. My wife and I were at the races and she backed the first two anyway so I had her gloating all the way home in the car! Why do people always like having a go at me I wonder!
Richard Dennis is 51 today. He still guards his Racing Post like it is the Magna Carta. it is the only paper I know that has a lock on it! Happy Birthday Richard!
Can you believe that Aidan O'Brien has 30 two year olds entered in the Racing Post Trophy. Lots of trainers would like just to have 20 two years olds let alone good ones!
The USPGA golf starts today at 7pm. I have some interest in the three ball betting. Montgomerie 11/10. Kucher 7/5, Stricker 5/6. The three ball of the day is McIlroy, Spieth and Johsnon. Spieth at 13/10. Surely McIlroy can't be match fit after his football injury?!
A fireman freed a pipistrelle bat from a woman's car after she called 999 in Runcorn, Cheshire. Police said it was a batty 999 call. Have a nice day!
