Art of War runs today
Today we have five meetings and one of them is a jumps card at Newton Abbot. The flat cards are at Salisbury, Beverley, Kempton and Bath. I left Bath until last as they only have £28,000 in prize money for the whole seven race card. How do they get away with it? David has four runners at Newton Abbot, Art of War, Lady of Longstone, Spending Time and Skylander and all four are fairly big prices. Art of War is having his first run for Pond House and over hurdles. He is an 82 rated flat performer but has been disappointing recently so let's just hope the hurdles and the addition of a visor help to sharpen him up. I watched him school over hurdles yesterday, picture above and he jumped nicely so we will just have to see how he gets on.
Lady of Longstone and Spending Time both run in the same race. Both of these seem to be in the grip of the handicapper at the moment and Lady of Longstone has been consistent all summer but does have to bounce back from a slightly below par effort last time. Spending Time is only having is second start for the yard, he ran okay on his stable debut but does have to improve to get involved. Skylander was well behind Hold Court at Southwell last time and again has to return to form to have a chance in what looks a fairly competitive race. It looks a tricky afternoon for our runners.
Street Entertainer ran well and finished third on the flat at Nottingham last night. He was only beaten about two lengths and was nearest at the finish.
I see that Yarmouth racecourse is holding trials this Sunday. They are having troubles with the turf at the track since having it re-done. They hope to race on 30th August. They should have used some of my turf as it won't stop growing! It has to be be cut every other day...not by me I might add!
Looking at the golf prices for the USPGA Championship you can bet on a top ten finish. Fowler 2/1, Rose 100/30 (maximum be of £100 with Betfred), Westwood 10/1. That will give me an interest anyway.
Mourinho has now axed his Chelsea doctor Eva Carneiro. So now Jose is a qualified doctor and knows better than the club doctor?! What is he not good at? I bet he can play table tennis and train racehorses! I see West Ham have come to their senses and are not going to sign Joey Barton.
Walt Disney was afraid of mice, or did he get Minnie Mouse! Have a nice day.
