There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Goodwood, Wolverhampton and Beverley and a jumps meeting from Worcester.  The stable has one runner, My Brother Sylvest (pictured above) in the competitive handicap chase at Worcester.  He finished behind another of today's runners Red Seventy at Stratford last time and meets him on worse terms this afternoon so he looks like he has it to do.  The trouble is that he keeps running well without getting his head in front and as such he is still 9lbs higher in the weights than when last successful in October 2013.

We had three runners at Newton Abbot yesterday and they all ran respectably without quite managing to get their heads in front.  Prince Of Poets looks as though he may appreciate slightly better ground.  Low Key was running a big race in the feature handicap when a jolting mistake two out put paid to his chance, while Junior Package wasn't beaten at all far in the bumper and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see David place all three to win in the near future.

It is the start of the Glorious Goodwood meeting and the ground is good/soft (soft in places) which is quite unusual for this fixture and it looks certain to catch out a few of the runners.  Mind you, it has been very windy and that should certainly help to dry the ground on the Downs.  There are a couple of Group 2 races to look forward to this afternoon and the two year old Birchwood looks like a decent bet to me at odds of around 3/1

I tuned in to the second episode of Britain At The Bookies last night and the undoubted star of the show was Andy and his girlfriend Gosia.  His biggest bet was £2, although in fairness he did manage to have £1 pound on a 20/1 winner.  He looked at them in the paddock and owing to the soft ground he decided to back one with big feet...I will throw the form book away and just look for horses with big feet in the future!  I was a little shocked by Racing Post sports pundit Steve Palmer - he seems to bet on every sport and I find it hard to believe that he makes a profit from it over the course of a year - too many bets for my liking.
