It is a bumper day of action today with six meetings taking place with five flat cards at Goodwood, Haydock, Bath, Pontefract and Musselburgh as well as a jumps fixture from Worcester. David doesn't have any runners on the domestic front, instead he has gone where the money is and he runs Katkeau at Auteuil this afternoon. Of course, he had been an intended runner there on Sunday but due to some ridiculous rule, he was balloted out even though he was topweight. He has stayed over there in company with Susie who looks after him - I wonder what the credit card bill is looking like?! Katkeau will be ridden by birthday boy Tom Scudamore who is 33 today - a birthday winner would be lovely!
Scu was on the mark yesterday as Sedgemoor Express won nicely at Wetherby for Nigel Hawke. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see this one follow-up under a penalty before the handicapper can get hold of him.
The success of Bella in the valuable fillies' hurdle at Warwick on Wednesday catapulted David back to the top of the trainers' table at this early stage of the season. The championship is based on prize money, which I think by now you will realise that I am wholeheartedly against. The jockeys' championship is decided by the number of winners and the trainers' title should be decided the same way. Speaking of which, Richard Johnson is now ten ahead in the jockeys' standings, while over on the flat both Charlie Appleby and Richard Hannon are already through the £1million barrier.

I didn't think I would be writing this, but what a great recovery by England's cricketers yesterday! It very much looked like it was going to be a case of 'same old, same old' as the home side crumbled to 30-4 early on, but great innings from Root (98) and Stokes (92) meant England recovered to 354-7. It is just a shame that both players missed out on their centuries - it would have sounded (and looked) so much better.

World number one golfer Rory McIlroy says that he needs a lesson in anger management. He could be fined after throwing his club on the 17th at Wentworth yesterday. Meanwhile, Londoner Andrew Johnson won a £60,000 BMW for his hole in one at the 10th. You have to feel sorry for poor old Craig Lees whose ace at the second hole didn't earn him anything - they could have at least put up a skateboard or something - it seems very unfair!

I have decided that I want Princess Beatrice's job. She has just gone on her 15th holiday in 6 months!
Did you know that in Arkansas, USA, a man is allowed to beat his wife, but no more than once a month? It seems so unfair!
