Prideofthecastle_Stratford

It was a good weekend for the yard with Prideofthecastle on the mark on his debut for the yard with a battling success in the bumper at Stratford.  He was giving a stone in weight to the runner-up The Road Ahead, who gave our runner a good bump in the final fifty yards - the first three home all look to be decent prospects so this was doubtless a good performance under Tom Scudamore.

               Keep the Cash

Today there are three meetings on, one on the flat at Ripon plus two jumps cards at Stratford and Market Rasen.  Keep the Cash (Conor O'Farrell) and Milor De La Borie (Tom Scu) run in the 2.20pm first race at Stratford, a maiden hurdle.  Keep the Cash was second in a bumper on his racecourse debut but then has been slightly disappointing in another bumper run and on his hurdling debut.  He prefers the quicker ground so hopefully they will not get too much rain at the track.  Milor De La Borie has improved steadily in three runs so lets just hope he keeps improving!  Prideofthecastle is making his stable debut in the concluding Bumper.  The winner of his only start so far a big run is expected with Tom Scu in the saddle.

    Beautiful Morning at Pond House

It is a quiet day with no runners for Pond House but there are six meetings, four on the flat at Newbury, Newmarket, Doncaster and Thirsk and two jumps cards at Bangor and Uttoxeter.  They are good cards at Newbury and Newmarket with a Group 1 at Newbury, the 3.50pm Lockinge.  Aidan O'Brien comes over with Declaration of War who is unbeaten in his last three starts and son Joseph O'Brien rides.  They also have two listed races at Newmarket so there is some great action on the TV to watch!  David has three runners at Stratford tomorrow, Keep the Cash and Milor De La Borie in the maiden hurdle and Prideofthecastle in the the Bumper..  Check back here tomorrow for more news.

David has two runners at Aintree this evening, Decoy and Problema Tic.  Both look very competitive handicap hurdles with plenty of runners.  Problema Tic has lots of ability and if everything drops into place he could run a big race.  Decoy is returning from a little break hacing last run in the Cesarewitch on the flat at Newmarket in October.  Tom Scu rides both horses and both should appreciate the good ground and we are hopeful they both will run okay.  Aintree is the only jumps meeting of the day but there are four meetings on the flat at York, Newbury, Newmarket and Hamilton so lots of action to watch!

Bad Girls ran okay to finish sixth in the Bumper at Uttoxeter yesterday.  After pulling fairly hard early on she did not really appreciate the rain softened ground but kept plugging away and our four year old will have learned a lot from the experience.  David does not have any runners today but there are six meetings, three on the flat at York, Salisbury and Newmarket and three jumps cards at Ludlow, Perth and Fontwell.  All eyes will be on the 6.05pm race at Ludlow where champ AP makes his comeback on the favourite Church Field.  It looks a good ride to have on his first return to action for a month and hopefully he should get off the mark for the season at the first time of asking.  Jason Maguire has a lead of 15 in the Championship but surely this will not be enough to stop AP winning another title but a long way to go and time will tell.

Palace Jester ran his best race since joining the Pond House team yesterday at Wincanton finishing second.  Maybe the softer surface helped our eight year old and on this run he should be able to win a race or two.  Today there are five meetings on and three of them are jumps cards at Fontwell, Uttoxeter and Perth and two flat cards at Doncaster and Bath.  David has just the one runner at Uttoxeter in the concluding Bumper, Bad Girls.  It is her first ever run so everything will be new to our four year old filly.  She was bred by MCP and is from the same family as Royal Auclair so she might need a stiffer test of stamina in time.  Tom Scu rides and she is sure to learn a lot for the experience.  They had over 23mm of rain at Uttoxeter so the going will be pretty testing.  That is 7mm more than we had at Pond House, we had 16mm in the past 24 hours but thankfully it has stopped raining for now!

Today there are five meetings, two on the flat at Beverley and Chepstow and three jumps cards at Wincanton, Sedgefield and Southwell.  David runs Palace Jester in the 3.20pm at Wincanton.  On old form Palace Jester is well handicapped but he needs to improve on recent runs to figure in quite a competitive little race.  We are due quite a lot of rain in the west country this afternoon so keep an eye on what is happening if you are having a bet on the racing this afternoon as the going may change!  They are due up to an inch of rain at Wincanton later so it is nice weather for ducks and there could be a few non runners to look out for as well.  At Towcester yesterday Weather Babe was a bit disappointing and did not jump as well as she can while the Bumper horse, Knight of Noir ran a cracker.  He finished second to the Alan King trained Ulzanas Raid but our runner is from a staying family and will improve for a step up in distance.  He kept running all the way to the line and we were very pleased with his Pond House debut run and he is a chaser to look forward to in the future.
