It is a quiet start to the day with just two meetings taking place - a National Hunt fixture from Plumpton and an all-weather flat meeting from Wolverhampton.  Ayr has already been abandoned due to storm damage caused by unseasonably high winds.  The stable has no runners this afternoon, although stable jockey Tom Scudamore heads to Plumpton for a couple of rides for David Bridgwater.  Scu may even have had a spot of Sunday lunch yesterday as one of his mounts, Bravo Piquet carries the welter burden of 12-5 - it looks to have a decent chance to boot.

It is a quiet day today with just two meetings taking place at Kelso over the sticks and Chelmsford on the all-weather.  The stable has just one runner, Sefton Chase winner Poole Master (pictured above) who takes part in the valuable veterans' chase.  At ten years of age he is the youngest competitor in the field so let's hope that his youth proves advantageous!  With snow forecast overnight, let's hope that the meeting is able to go ahead without any problems.  Conor O'Farrell makes the long journey north - I hope it is worthwhile!  Meanwhile, Chelmsford host their first meetings since it's reincarnation from the old Great Leighs track.  It seems to me that everyone wants an all-weather track although I am not quite sure why.  At least Chelmsford should be applauded for putting on some decent prize money.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with three jumps cards from Warwick, Kempton and Wetherby as well as an all-weather flat fixture from Lingfield.  It is a busy day for the stable with Race To Glory, Dell' Arca (pictured above), Heath Hunter, Shotavodka and Swing Bowler at Kempton and Top Wood and George Herbert representing the stable at Warwick.  David is three-handed in the Lanzarote Hurdle and despite there being some fancy prices among them, a case could be made for all of them.  There are also a couple of interesting new ones among those, including Race To Glory who had some fair form on the flat - he seemed to stay well on the level, something that will augur well for today after plenty more overnight rain.  George Herbert makes his racecourse debut in the nine runner bumper at Warwick - there isn't an awful lot to go on with all nine of them having their first starts.  It will be a case of whoever handles the ground best.

The good form of the yard continued yesterday when our only runner of the day, Bidourey absolutely bolted up in Leicester's novices' hurdle.  He scored by eleven lengths easing down in the hands of Tom Scudamore and while the race probably didn't have an awful lot of strength in depth, it was a good bit of placement by David and Bidourey looks like a most exciting prospect.  He was bought as an embryonic chaser and he will be smashing over fences one day, but in the meantime he looks likely to take high rank among the novices' over timber.  I watched the race with David and I don't think I have ever known anyone so nervous!  Approaching the second last I shouted 'I will take over from here!' but David responded 'He hasn't won yet.'  He needn't have worried though as Scu always had things in hand and I hear some of the bookies quoting him in their Triumph Hurdle market - it will be interesting to see where David goes with him.  Anyway, it was nice for owners Brocade Racing who were equalling their best ever season with eleven winners and the promise of more to come.

The stable enjoyed another nice winner yesterday when Rathlin Rose landed the 3m maiden hurdle at Taunton in good style by six lengths.  Our gelding jumped and travelled well and soon had his rivals in trouble and seemed only to be idling in front until joined by the loose horse - he picked up again well and looks like a nice staying prospect in the making - he could pick up a similar contest under a penalty.  Bladoun didn't build on his reappearance success from a 13lbs higher mark, although he was still there two out, he jumped markedly to the left and we could be seeing him run the other way around next time.

Saint John Henry - Winner at Bangor

Saint John Henry won nicely at Bangor yesterday, his second win of the season.  It looked like the longer trip and more testing ground suited our five year old and he kept galloping all the way to the line under a good ride from Tom Scu.  He his not the biggest but carried 11st 12lb to victory well, off a mark of 106 and he looks a good staying prospect for the future.  This was David's 72nd winner of the season.  Today we have four meetings, two jumps cards at Taunton and Ludlow plus flat cards at Lingfield and Kempton.  If you're in the North of England - bad luck!  David runs Rathlin Rose, Courtlands Prince and Bladoun at Taunton and Good Value and A Hairy Koala at Ludlow.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon - two jumps cards from Bangor and Sedgefield as well as an all-weather flat meeting from Southwell.  The stable has two runners at Bangor; Navanman and Saint John Henry (pictured above jumping, orange jacket, blue cap).  Our five year old Saint John Henry steps up in trip to three miles having won over 2m5f on his seasonal debut at Plumpton before capsizing last time at Wincanton.  Tom Scudamore is back aboard this afternoon and he looks to have a chance.  Navanman is a 25/1 shot and looks as though he has it to do to figure this afternoon.
