Champion jockey A P McCoy is back in Ireland today to ride at Fairyhouse - he has five mounts, the best of which could be Florishwells d'Ete. Talking of A P, while he is still leading the jockeys championship convincingly, it would be interesting if the jockeys and trainers championships were decided in the same way. A P would only be third in the jockeys' championship if it were decided on prize money, while David would be top of the trainers' if it were decided by winners trained. Personally, I think that the trainers championship should be altered back to winners trained as it used to be - not because David is leading, but because it would make things much more competitive. There are probably ten trainers who could send out 100 winners in a season these days and that would have to be good for the sport. It is amazing how making such a small change could alter the results so drastically.

One of my clever mates in the betting shops said to me the other day, 'the new England cricket captain Eoin Morgan is my favourite captain'. When I asked why he responded, 'Captain Morgan is my favourite drink!' Talk about ask a stupid question...

I was interested to read that snooker legend Ronnie O'Sullivan thinks that the sport needs a makeover. He went to the darts at the Ally Pally recently and said that the atmosphere was fantastic. Having said that, I can't see people turning up in fancy dress, swilling beer and shouting at the players. I once coughed during a snooker match and nearly got thrown out! Something similar has been tried with speed snooker and to be honest, I just can't see it catching on. They are going to have to focus on their key audience which seems to be in the far east these days - it is certainly in a downward spiral over here while darts seems to be getting more and more popular. Sky had 8 million viewers tune in to their coverage of the darts world championships and only football attracted a bigger sports audience. Good old Barry Hearn!

A final thought for the day...Golfer: Do you think it is a sin to play on a Sunday?
Caddy: The way you play, it is a sin on any day!
