The stable enjoyed another nice winner yesterday when Bidourey was a ready winner of the bumper at Ffos Las under Tom Scudamore. I thought it was a very good performance under a penalty on very soft ground. It is always difficult to quantify the form of these races as there is often very little to go on, although conceding a stone to the Irish trained runner-up was probably no mean feat and he looks like yet another smart prospect for the team at Pond House. As you would expect given the testing nature of the ground, the times across the whole fixture were on the slow side.

Tom Scu keeps riding the winners
Today we have just two jumps cards at Market Rasen and Ffos Las. David has one runner, Bidourey in the 1m6f concluding bumper for three year olds at Ffos Las. He has has just won run, winning in France and this is his Pond House debut. He looks the best on form and won't mind the ground. Tom Scu rides and he is looking to continue his good run of form. Scu has two rides at the Welsh track in the last two races on the card.

Standing Ovation
Today we have four meetings, three jumps cards at Wincanton, Sandown and Kelso plus a flat card at Doncaster. There are eight races at Doncaster including the competitive November handicap. David runs Standing Ovation in the 2.40pm Badger Ales chase at Wincanton. Our seven year old ran a cracker at Cheltenham last time to finish second and went up two pounds for that run. He won this race last year to complete a four timer but he is 11 pounds higher this time round. Providing they do not get too much rain at the track and the ground remains fairly good we hope he should run a big race. Although it seems to have rained most of the night in the west country they have only had 1mm of rain at Wincanton. Although they are due more this morning lets just hope they do not get too much!

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with three over the sticks at Musselburgh, Fontwell and Hexham as well as an all-weather flat card from Wolverhampton. With All Force Majeure now a non-runner in the bumper at Fontwell, the stable is without a representative on the racecourse today. Another absentee will be perennial champion jockey A P McCoy who looks likely to miss at least the next two weeks of the season, including the Paddy Power Gold Cup meeting at Cheltenham. I saw A P a couple of weeks ago and he still didn't look to be 100% and this latest absence all but scuppers his quest for an incredible 300 wins in a season. He hopes to be back in time for the Hennessy at Newbury, incredibly it is a race that the champ has never won...I will have to mention that to him the next time I see him!

It was an excellent day for the stable yesterday when we landed a double at Chepstow with our only two runners. Tullyesker Hill (pictured above) bolted up in the three mile handicap hurdle with Tom Scudamore easing him down on the run-in - he is only a five year old and there is still the possibility of further improvement from him. Herbert Park completed the brace by landing the closing bumper in workmanlike fashion, beating the well-backed point-to-point winner Winter Walk. He looks like a promising staying hurdler in the making and David would appear to have another nice young prospect on his hands.

This afternoon there are four meetings taking place with two on the level at Nottingham and Kempton and a couple of jumps cards at Warwick and Chepstow. The stable has two runners at the Welsh track; Tullyesker Hill (pictured above) and Herbert Park. I see that Herbert Park is forecast favourite according to the Racing Post on the strength of his second in a bumper on this course last month on good/soft ground. He can only improve for the experience and looks to have a solid chance under Tom Scudamore.

The stable enjoyed a good a winner at Plumpton yesterday when Saint John Henry (pictured above, orange and blue colours) scored at odds of 9/1 under Tom Scudamore in the 2m5f handicap hurdle. He had shown some ability when fourth in a decent race at Taunton last season and duly confirmed that impression with victory here on his handicap debut. Even so, our four year old was made to fight every step of the way to land the spoils from the appropriately named Torrential Raine. Rathealy also ran well to finish a 1/2 length second on his first start for the stable and should have little trouble picking up a race over hurdles on this evidence. Meanwhile Lady Of Longstone didn't appear to relish the heavy ground and could be seen to better effect returned to a sounder surface - this can safely be filed under 'too bad to be true'.
