The stable was among the winners at Chepstow yesterday afternoon when Remastered (pictured above) ran out a ready winner of the concluding bumper.  He was well backed and duly obliged with the minimum of fuss from a decent benchmark in Kateson who was not beaten far in a Listed contest last time.  Remastered looks to be a nice prospect for the future - he has a bit of size about him and should be winning plenty more races judged on this evidence.  Martabot looked as though he was going to go close for much of the way earlier on the card before weakening in the closing stages and clattering through the last - it wouldn't surprise to see him go well over shorter next time.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps card from Catterick and Chepstow as well as flat cards from Lingfield and Wolverhampton.  David has two runners at Chepstow today when Martabot takes in the 2m3½f handicap hurdle at 3.20pm.  Our seven year old was pulled-up on his first start back from an absence at Wincanton, but he has shown promise in the past, notably when finishing runner-up at Exeter and a reproduction of his best form would give him claims.  Meanwhile, Remastered makes his debut for the stable in the bumper at 4.25pm.  He had some very nice form in Ireland on testing ground, he receives 7lbs from his main market rival and a big run is expected under Tom Scudamore.

I'm Always Trying finished runner-up at Leicester yesterday afternoon behind the very useful Springtown Lake.  He will certainly face easier opportunities than this in the future, but it was a good piece of placing from David as our five year old picked up almost £2,500 - that is almost as much as winning at some courses!  I'm Always Trying still looks very inexperienced and he should continue to improve.  He seems likely to want a real test of stamina.

The good news is that Leicester has passed it's early morning inspection meaning that there are four meetings taking place this afternoon.  The jumps cards are from Ayr and Leicester while there is all-weather flat action from Newcastle and Chelmsford City.  David has one runner this afternoon as I'm Always Trying takes in the 2m4½f novices' hurdle at 1.15pm.  There are only two runners so a clear round will see him pick up almost £2,500.  Our runner is a 13/2 shot and has it to do to beat the favourite but as his name suggests, we will be doing our best.  Tom Scu is in the saddle for his only ride of the day.

Today we have three meetings, jumps cards at Newcastle and Lingfield plus a flat card at Southwell.  Tom Scu goes up to Newcastle for a couple of rides.  Richard Johnson is also up at Newcastle and he looks like he could win the first couple of races.  If you had been at Plumpton yesterday you would have heard to funny names fighting out the finish to one of the races, Hab Sab and Canyouhearmenow.  It was not for first place but in fact for 8th!  Hab Sab finished 8th and picked up £350 in prize money, there was only a neck between them and it is all good fun!  It was a Moore day yesterday at Plumpton.  Gary had a treble and just for good measure son Jamie also had a winner at Hereford.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Hereford and Plumpton supported by an all-weather flat card from Wolverhampton.  There's no racing in Ireland today and I am sure that is why they get big fields when there is racing on.  Meanwhile, back on these shores there are no runners from Pond House today, although stable jockey Tom Scudamore has picked up three outside rides at Hereford, while David Noonan goes to Plumpton for a couple of mounts.  There is good prize money up for grabs today at Hereford, including the novices' handicap chase with over £10,000 to the winner but once again there is a poor turnout.  I really don't know what can be done about these novice chases - there just don't seem to be enough horses in that sphere.

There is a quiet day ahead of us with the abandonment of Fontwell yesterday due to the heavy downpours, leaving us with just one jumps card from Sedgefield.  Consequently there are no runners from the Pond House team, while jockeys Tom Scudamore and David Noonan look as though they will also be taking an unscheduled day off.  Not too heavy on the Yorkshire puddings gentlemen!
