Sail by the Sea (nearside) on the Gallops

There are just the two meetings today at Plumpton and Southwell and David has just the one runner at Plumpton, Sail By the Sea.  He runs in the 1.20pm novice chase and is making his chasing debut.  There are only four runners but it looks very competitive and all three of our rivals have already won this season.  Tom Scu rides our former point to point and hurdle winner and it will be interesting to see how he gets on.  it is also the Sussex National at the track.  It is run over 3m5f with £15,000 to the winner and I think it could be a bit of a slog this afternoon.  Peter Bowen has he top weight, Ballybough Gorta and he also has Viking Blond lower down in the weights on 10st 8lb.  With his in-form son Sean on board claiming a handy five pounds off this one looks to have a great chance.

Did you know, women make up a third of the audience at the darts?!  There will be 250,000 pints of beer drank during the competition which works out to about seven pints a head!  No wonder they all look drunk on the box!  They should definitely have a fancy dress competition.  Barry Hearse has done a great job promoting the sports and I think maybe they should get him involved in horse racing?!

Steven Gerrard has been a great player for Liverpool over the years and probably only Kenny Dalglish has probably been better.  I am sure that comment will start a few arguments!  I should ask our owner Terry Neill what he thinks as he is a great supporter of the reds.  It looks like Steven Gerrard is off to Toronto where he will take the place of Jermain Defoe who could not settle in Canada.

There are some more interesting FA cup matches today.  Arsenal versus Hull on BBC1 at 5.30pm.  I would think the Gunners golakeeper will be a bit edgy.  Local Westcountry side Yeovil take on Man Utd, there biggest game for years.  They could probably do with that sloping pitch again that they used to have, you older fans will know what I am talking about!  Have a nice day.
