Azza's Chase Debut

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with three on the level from Ayr, Lingfield and Windsor as well as a National Hunt fixture from Uttoxeter.  Somehow Windsor have managed to get away with putting up just £28,000 in prize money across their six race card - I think that is among the lowest I have seen so far.  The stable has one runner at Uttoxeter tonight; Azza in the beginners' chase at 6.20pm.  Our filly was the best of these over hurdles with a mark of 129 - she finished a good third on this track last time out, has schooled well over the larger obstacles at home and looks sure to go well under stable jockey Tom Scudamore.

If you fancy a quiet drink then you could always pop over to the Emerald Isle for Galway!  The only trouble is that you will need a week or two to get over it!

I see that it is Gary Sobers 78th birthday today.  I once answered MCP's mobile and it was the great man on the other end.  Did you know that Gary was also a very good table tennis player?  I should say Sir Gary...many happy returns.

I hope that a few of you followed me and had a few quid each way on Barry Lane in teh British Seniors Golf at 80/1.  He finished third so we showed a good profit.  Bernhard Langer won by a staggering 13 shots, while Colin Montgomerie finished runner-up.  These two look to be an awful lot better than the remainder of the senior tour at present.

England cricket skipper Alastair Cook had a good knock of 95 yesterday and it could not have come a moment too soon for the beleagured captain.  He said that it was the most pressure that he has ever faced - I must say that the pitch and Indian bowling left a bit to be desired and I would have fancied my chances to score a few runs.  It looks like finishing in a draw to me and I will be helping myself to a bit of the 4/5 that that is the case.  I always enjoy listening to Geoffrey Boycott on commentary - he takes no prisoners and says it how he sees it...no nonsense!

How is it that Sam Allardyce be a 7/4 chance for the sack before the football season has even begun?  It's a crazy world!
