Today there are five meetings taking place - three on the flat at Leicester, Lingfield and Redcar as well as jumping action from Huntingdon and Hexham.  The stable makes the long trip up to Hexham with just one runner, Leader Of The Gang who goes in the novices' limited handicap chase at 7.40pm.  Although there are only four runners, it looks like a competitive little contest with the outsider only a 4/1 chance.  There is some good prize money up for grabs with almost £6,500 to the winner, so let's hope the journey is worthwhile.  Tom Scudamore is aboard our eight year old and he also looks to have a nice ride at the meeting for his brother Michael.  Line d'Aois has won his last two starts in bumpers on this track and if he takes to hurdles, he should win.

I was most amused by Lydia Pearce's comments after her horse Minstrel Lad won the 1m2f handicap at Leicester.  The trainer said, "I told him to win as far as he liked, but I didn't mean that far!"  She was referring to her son Simon, who guided the gelding to a seven length success...I wonder what the handicapper will make of this little romp?!

I see that Tottenham Hotspur are taking another gamble as they look to be bringing in Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager - he still struggles to speak English!  It is probably a good move for the Argentinian who I think would have struggled to keep Southampton in the Premiership next season.  The problem for Spurs as far as I can tell is that Chairman Daniel Levy doesn't seem to know much about football and believes that his team are top four contenders.

How can they call the Senior USPGA Championship a major golf tournament?  Scot Colin Montgomerie who never won a major during his time on the main tour, belated took this 'major' at the weekend.  He is taking on players who are much older than him - he won well, but will never be a real major in my eyes.

I was obviously in the wrong game all those years ago and rather than confining myself to a table, I should have played 'proper' tennis!  I cannot understand how these players who lose in the first round of these tournaments can pick up a pay cheque for £20,000!  If we lost in the first round we would get our bus ticket back home - and I am not joking!
