The runners continued to perform well over the weekend and I thought that Dell' Arca ran a cracker to finish runner-up in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury on Saturday.  He was giving the winner Splash Of Ginge 9lbs and posted another very good effort - he has now won a Greatwood and finished runner-up in a Betfair, two of the most competitive handicaps on the calendar.  Swing Bowler also stayed on well in the closing stages and narrowly failed to get fourth on her first start since the Cheltenham Festival last year.  While I was cheering on the stable runners, my wife was screaming home the winner - she had had the housekeeping on it because our cat is called Ginger...who needs a form book?!

Over at Warwick young Tom Bellamy was successful on Tullyesker Hill (pictured above).  He showed that he stays well, scoring over 3m1f on heavy ground.  Under such testing conditions Tom's 7lbs claim was invaluable.  The five year old gelding looks to be an exciting prospect.

Today we have two meetings taking place following the abandonment of Plumpton.  There is a jumps meeting at Catterick as well as an all-weather flat card at Wolverhampton.  The stable has no runners.

Didn't Liverpool look good on Saturday?  The reds destroyed Arsenal and looked totally unplayable, although it did help that the Gunners defence seemed non-existent!  Manchester United are another side who need to sort out their defence - they battered Fulham but could not score enough goals, getting caught in the last minute of injury time.  Meanwhile, my beloved West Ham won again and we are now going for Europe!  The last time we were in Europe the fans pulled the sails down and threw the cannons overboard!

Woods was successful in the Australian Masters gold at the weekend.  No, not Tiger Woods, but his niece Cheyenne!  She looks just like her uncle, although she does hit her drives straighter!

Snooker player Shaun Murphy took twelve years to record his first maximum 147 break...now he has made two in the space of three weeks.  Just like London busses, you wait an eternity for one and then two turn up at once!
